Blowing Rocks Preserve

Jupiter Island

Limestone bluffs that spout seawater skyward at high tide — one of Jupiter's most photographed spots.

Blowing Rocks Preserve, on Jupiter Island, protects the largest Anastasia limestone outcropping on the U.S. Atlantic coast. At high tide with an east wind, surging water shoots through holes in the rock and plumes into the air. Native-plant trails and a quiet beach round out this Nature Conservancy preserve.

Go near high tide for the dramatic spray.

Before you go

  • The 'blowing rocks' effect needs high tide plus an onshore wind.
  • Small parking lot and a modest entry fee support the preserve.
